GRANTS FOR TEACHERS

Grants 4 Teachers Application

The purpose of the Grants 4 Teachers program is to fund highly creative ideas that would otherwise be impossible due to school system funding constraints.

In October 2019, CFAAC made 22 Grants 4 Teachers awards to Anne Arundel County Public School (AACPS) teachers across the County totaling $10,100. These grants fund creative ideas that would otherwise be impossible to implement in the classroom due to school system funding constraints. Learn more about the 2019 grantees. Since the Fall of 2009 when Grants 4 Teachers was launched, due to the generosity of local donors the Community Foundation has funded more than $100,000 in proposal from 200+ teachers.

So many of our teachers have great ideas and don’t know how to launch the fruits of their creative and meaningful thinking.  Your grants give them hope and means to move their dreams forward.  -

Maureen M. McMahon, Ph.D., Deputy Superintendent for Academics and Strategic Initiatives, Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Grants are awarded from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $500. A volunteer committee of citizens including retired teachers, business people, and parents review the applications. The application process is easy and the grant is awarded directly to the school on behalf of a teacher. Application Open: May 20, 2024 | Deadline: September 27, 2024 | Award Size: Up to $500 | Awards in October 2024

All teachers working for Anne Arundel County Public Schools may apply, including but not limited to special needs teachers, music, art, etc. Please note: Projects that appear to have already begun or that have been fully funded elsewhere will not be accepted. Partial funding may be requested if you can provide documentation of having the remaining balance committed from another source (PTSA, local business, etc.). Examples of previously funded projects include musical instruments and art supplies, paperback books for students to take home and share with their parents, field trips to reinforce social studies or science lessons, and technical equipment to promote scientific investigations.

Please note the following:

  • Requests to purchase technology (tablets, touchpads, etc.) will not be considered
  • Requests for the purchase of assistive technology for an individual student will not be considered
  • Requests to purchase alternative classroom furnishings, pre-packaged curriculum or software will only be considered if you can describe a creative way in which you will use them to enhance your students' classroom experience

If your request is funded, a brief narrative and spending report, with receipts attached, will be required at the conclusion of the project, program or school year (whichever comes first). We also encourage you to submit photos and testimonials that we can use to promote the program on our website & Facebook page. If you submit photos, please ensure that you have any necessary release from parents to utilize them or do not include identifying shots of students.

Please keep in mind that many teachers and schools are eligible to apply, so not all creative and exciting projects can be funded.  Contact the Community Foundation office at grants@cfaac.org or 410.280.1102 x 104 if you have any further questions
