Professional Advisor Recognition Society Spotlight on Michael E. Lehr

Mike Lehr receives Professional Advisors Recognition Society Award at the 2022 Celebration of Philanthropy from Mary Spencer, CFAAC President & CEO

The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County launched its Professional Advisors Recognition Society at the 2022 Celebration of Philanthropy, naming six inductees to its inaugural class—Michael (Mike) E. Lehr is one of the first members to receive this honor.

When Mike Lehr needs advice on charitable giving, he has two “go-to” places: his church and the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. “If I need to know who or how to take care of something in my community, they’re going to be the first people I call,” said Mike, who currently serves on the CFAAC Board of Trustees.

“I think that for those that are charitably inclined, the Community Foundation is a great resource; they are great advisors who can help my clients flesh out their philanthropic goals. I always tell my charitable clients to explore what they are trying to achieve with the Community Foundation first.”

Mike, who is always there to offer advice and explore philanthropic options for his clients, is a Principal with Sims & Campbell in Annapolis and focused on Estate Planning and Administration. He taught at Anne Arundel Community College, served as a local and national lecturer, and has presented seminars and workshops for local financial advisors, accountants, and other attorneys. He is a past chair of the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council Executive Committee, and is currently serving on the Board of Trustees for the Annapolis Opera, and previously served on the Advisory Board for the local YMCA, the Pastoral Council for St. Andrew by the Bay, and the board for the Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Maryland.

Additionally, Mike was selected as a “Rising Star” in the 2012, 2020-2022 editions of Maryland Super Lawyers. Mike and his wife Katherine, live in the suburbs of Annapolis with their children Evelyn, Eli, and Austin.

The Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County created the Professional Advisor Recognition Society to acknowledge professional advisors for their commitment to the community and their work to support philanthropy and encourage charitable giving across Anne Arundel County.
