About the Celebration of Philanthropy

As we look forward to the upcoming year, we invite you to start preparing to submit nominations for the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County’s Celebration of Philanthropy Awards Luncheon! For nearly 25 years, this event has honored the exceptional individuals, businesses, groups, and foundations whose generosity and leadership have made a lasting impact on our community. Your nominations play a crucial role in highlighting the outstanding philanthropic efforts that strengthen and uplift Anne Arundel County. Get ready to recognize those who go above and beyond in giving back to our community!

Celebration of Philanthropy Award Categories

Philanthropist of the Year Award

Honoring exceptional generosity, civic leadership, and commitment to advancing philanthropy in Anne Arundel County.

Corporate Philanthropist of the Year Award

Recognizing a local business for outstanding generosity, community leadership, and support of Anne Arundel County nonprofits.

Volunteer of the Year Award

Honoring an individual or team whose long-term service, leadership, and dedication have made a lasting impact on Anne Arundel County through exceptional volunteer efforts.

Young Volunteer of the Year Award

Recognizing a student or youth group for exceptional commitment, leadership, and service to the community through philanthropy and volunteerism.

Boots on the Ground Award

Celebrating a hands-on volunteer whose quiet dedication and behind-the-scenes service have made a meaningful impact on local nonprofits.

Carroll H. Hynson, Jr. Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Philanthropy

Honoring those who champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in philanthropy through meaningful partnerships and support of Anne Arundel County nonprofits.

Carol Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award

Honoring an individual whose visionary leadership and lifelong commitment have advanced philanthropy and strengthened Anne Arundel County.

Legacy Award for Planned Giving

Recognizing a family or individual whose planned gift has made a lasting impact on local nonprofits in Anne Arundel County.

Nominate Step-by-Step Guide

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for nomination, all nominees must:

  • Be a resident of Anne Arundel County.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of charitable giving to one or more nonprofit organizations based in and working in Anne Arundel County.
  • Have made a positive impact in the lives of county residents through their giving.
  • Encourage and motivate others to become philanthropic.
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.
  • Parents are not permitted to nominate their child(ren) in any category.
  • The committee will only consider charitable work that is beyond the scope of a nominee’s professional duties.
  • We encourage you to work with your nominee in completing the application.
