EVENT DETAILS

Virtual Board Excellence Workshop

Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Workshop is an interactive, virtual program that covers the most important aspects of the board. Participants will leave with clarity about the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors as a governing body and the roles of staff members versus board members.

Participants will explore:

  • What it means to be legal and socially accountable
  • Principles of sound financial oversight
  • The board’s role in fundraising
  • The role of the board as "employer”
  • Board conduct and how to develop a well-rounded, effective board of directors

Each participant will receive Maryland Nonprofits’ Board Excellence Handbook (a $25 value), which will be shipped in the mail prior to the course date. Therefore, registration for this program will close on June 9, 2020.

Note: This is an interactive program. Participants are encouraged to log into the Zoom meeting at 4:20pm, 10 minutes prior to the program to ensure a good connection and say hello. Participants will be encouraged to keep their cameras on for the duration of the program.

Who Should Attend:

Board Excellence is suitable for organizations big and small, regardless of mission focus. This program is most appropriate for organizations with paid staff. To get the maximum benefit, we strongly encourage at least two board members and one senior-level staff member register to participate. Staff members are discouraged from participating without a board member. Up to four participants per organization may register.

Pricing:

  • Maryland Nonprofits Members $35
  • Nonprofit Development Center Participants:  $35
  • Non-Members: $70

Speaker: Mara Winters, Maryland Nonprofits
